If your goal was to receive a spiritual itinerary or praise for your "attainments," you would have found yourself profoundly unsatisfied. I think most of us, if we’re being honest, use "learning" as a way to avoid "doing." We consume vast amounts of literature on mindfulness because it is easier than facing ten minutes of silence. We desire a guide who will offer us "spiritual snacks" of encouragement to distract us from the fact that our internal world is a storm of distraction cluttered with grocery lists and forgotten melodies.
